In Maharashtra the four important places dedicated to Goddess Shakti are famously known “Sade teen Shakti peeth”, Sade teen means three and half and Shakti peeth means Abode of Goddess Shakti. These are Mahalaxmi temple at Kolhapur, Tulajabhavani temple at Tulajapur, Renuka Mata at Mahurgad and Saptashringi Mata at Vani. Idols in all these temples are self originated.
